Brow Lift

A Brow Lift is a part of rejuvenation of the upper face encompassing the brow, upper and lower eyelids, lid and cheek junction and mid face.

The middle of the eyebrow is usually lower than the outer eyebrow and the position of the eye brow is assessed on the relationship with distance of the brow from the ridge of the upper orbital bone. The eyebrow position varies with age, sex and ethnic background. The ideal position also varies according to fashion and culture.

Low eyebrow position creates the appearance of being tired and angry.

Excessively high eyebrow elevation creates a frightened or surprised look.

Dr Zurek offers minimally invasive options of brow lifting:

Temporal Brow Lift

This procedure offers improvement in the signs of ageing in the temporal area, by lifting the tail of the eyebrow and in the "crow's feet" area (the outer side of the eye).

It is performed under local anaesthetic and sedation through only one small incision on each side, hidden in the temporal hair bearing skin, therefore, no visible scar is expected.

It has been found to be effective and a relatively simple intervention offering natural and long lasting results.

Direct Brow Lift

Direct excision of skin on the forehead at different levels offers an effective elevation of the brow, however the "tradeoff" is a scar. The best candidates are elderly individuals where the scar can be concealed in existing horizontal forehead creases.

Transpalpebral Browpexy (Fixation of outer brow through upper eyelid incision)

This procedure is performed under local anaesthetic and sedation, usually during upper eyelid surgery. It offers minimal lift of the outer brow, therefore is only suitable for individuals with slight drooping of the tail of the eye brow.

Muscle Relaxing Injections

This can elevate the eyebrows by temporarily weakening the muscles ability to depress the brow by injection of a muscle relaxing substance.

If you observe the position of your brow whilst frowning, you will notice downward movement of the inner portion of brow and formation of horizontal and vertical frown lines .

When you weaken those muscles with the substance, the brow will elevate due to action of the forehead muscle, which create the horizontal forehead lines. The elevation of the tail of the brow can be achieved by the same method.
